The terms that apply when you use our services

These terms and conditions apply to all electrical services provided by Lilliput Electrical Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). By instructing us to carry out work, you agree to these terms.

1. Quotes & Estimates

  • All quotes are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
  • Quotes are based on the information you provide and a visual assessment of the work required. If additional work is discovered once we begin, we will inform you and agree any extra costs before proceeding.
  • Estimates are approximate and the final cost may vary. We will always communicate any significant changes before they are incurred.

2. Acceptance & Scheduling

  • A quote is accepted when you confirm in writing (including email, WhatsApp, or text message) that you wish to proceed.
  • We will schedule work at a mutually convenient time. We aim to provide a specific date and arrival window.
  • If we need to reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances, we will give you as much notice as possible and arrange an alternative date.

3. Access & Preparation

  • You must provide safe and reasonable access to the areas where work is to be carried out.
  • You are responsible for moving furniture, belongings, and fragile items away from the work area before we arrive unless otherwise agreed.
  • If access is not available at the agreed time and we are unable to carry out the work, a call-out charge may apply.

4. Payment Terms

  • For small jobs (under £500), payment is due on completion of the work.
  • For larger projects, we may require a deposit (typically 30%) before work begins, with the balance due on completion.
  • We accept bank transfer and cash. Payment terms will be confirmed on your invoice.
  • Invoices are payable within 14 days of issue. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

5. Scope of Work

  • We will carry out work as described in the accepted quote or as agreed in writing.
  • Any changes to the scope of work must be agreed by both parties before the additional work is carried out.
  • We reserve the right to refuse work that we consider unsafe, non-compliant with regulations, or outside our area of expertise.

6. Standards & Compliance

  • All electrical work is carried out in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition) and all applicable Building Regulations.
  • We are registered with NICEIC and all notifiable work will be certified and registered with the relevant local authority Building Control body.
  • Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs), Minor Works Certificates, and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) will be issued as appropriate.

7. Warranties & Guarantees

  • All workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion.
  • Manufacturer warranties on materials and products are passed on to you and are subject to the manufacturer's terms.
  • Our warranty does not cover faults caused by misuse, third-party interference, or normal wear and tear.
  • If you experience any issues with our work within the guarantee period, contact us and we will rectify it at no additional charge.

8. Cancellation

  • You may cancel a booking at any time before work begins. If you cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled start date, a cancellation fee may apply to cover costs already incurred (e.g., materials ordered specifically for your job).
  • If materials have been purchased specifically for your project, you may be liable for the cost of non-returnable items.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or postpone work in the event of unsafe conditions, severe weather, or circumstances beyond our control.

9. Liability

  • We hold public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance. Details are available on request.
  • Our liability for any claim arising from the services we provide is limited to the value of the contract or the limits of our insurance policy, whichever is greater.
  • We are not liable for pre-existing defects in your electrical installation unless specifically identified and included in the scope of work.
  • We are not responsible for any consequential or indirect loss arising from the work carried out.

10. Your Property

  • We will take reasonable care to protect your property and belongings while carrying out work.
  • Electrical work can sometimes involve necessary disruption (e.g., lifting floorboards, chasing walls). We will discuss this with you beforehand and make good any areas we disturb unless otherwise agreed.
  • Any damage caused directly by our negligence will be rectified at our expense.

11. Emergency Callouts

  • Emergency callout rates may differ from standard rates. The applicable charge will be confirmed before attendance where possible.
  • In an emergency, we will carry out work necessary to make the situation safe. Further remedial work may be quoted separately.

12. Complaints

We take all complaints seriously. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service:

  2. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days.
  3. We aim to resolve all complaints within 14 working days.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may escalate the matter to NICEIC, our registered competent persons scheme.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page. Changes do not apply retrospectively to work already quoted or in progress.
